| when i put my system in my car i've noticed light dimming. I have a cap for it, but i havent had time to put it on. The main thing is i was wondering what would be better to do, get a deep cycle battery or upgrade my alternator (vehicle:07 Chevy Coablt). Since my battery is in my trunk a "big 3" swap would be a pain in the ass, and the distance might not cause an effect on it anyways. Any suggestions? | |

| dont use a cap, it will drain down your battery even more.( b/c your battery has to run/charge all of your vehicle, then charge your cap, an charge you amp. and amps normally come with built in caps already. so you would basically be draining your battery more) . just buy a red top or even better a yellow top an it should stop the dimming. but i dont think you should have to upgrade your alt. unless your running atleast 2000 watts or more. | |

ummmm..... WTF? no it doesn't...a cap IS a battery...the alternator charges it all not the battery! lol either way though...a cap is a bandade.....stronger alternator is what you need. or get hids then they won't dim! LOL | |

| When I was into stereo systems, I just used a small drycell in the trunk to run my amps, crossovers etc.. No dimming ever again. Instead of using your main battery to support your whole car and your system. Just run all the electronics of the drycell. I used a small drycell from stinger. | |

| ya, well this sunday i'll be gettin my SS Supercharged cobalt, tradin the LT3 in for it. But i've been up in the SS forum and some guy was havin the same problem and suggested me to get a carquest NGT extreme battery. He said it fixed the problem for his system. So i'm gonna try that, wouldnt hurt to get a better battery anyways either. - that07balt wrote:

| hmmm, well it doesnt help much that we have weak alternators, but not nearly as bad as some other vehicles. i have seen one guy on the ss forum mount 2 alternators (also had the supercharger in it) under his hood. I mean if your thinkin big for your audio system then that might be a good idea. your gonna lose some hp, but hey not like we have a whole lot anyways, lol. | |
