| Ok so on my way home from my girls house i stop at a red light in my prelude welll it goes green so i start going at a reasonable speed then i made my turn and when i went to excelerate all the engine did was rev up so i thought it knocked itself into neutral i check nope its in gear acting like its in neutral so i pull over and turn it off when i go to turn it back on all that happens is a loud squealing noise and nothing els so im screwed any advice is very much welcomed The motor is a H22a | |

| how old is your clutch? or if it's an automatic the tq convertor could be shot. | |

| see its an automatic so would the tq converter keep it from starting like that | |

| Sounds like that loud noise may have been the starter gear grinding against the flywheel gear ?? ... misalignment of the gears ... something jarred loose ?? | |

that could explain why it wont start, but it doesn't explain why it acted like it was in neutral i'm willing to bet its the tranmission. do you know about the auto trannies that came with the preludes? they extended the warranties on them cuz they were straight crap. the great majority of them failed well before 60k usually what happens is just that as your driving it acts like it just slips into neutral. you didn't have any problems before this did you? | |

| no we pulled the starter today and were pretty sure its the torque converter but were trying to find a diagram to see if the starter turns the torque converter and if it turns the fly wheel if it happens like that then were pretty sure thats the problem | |
