Anyone have any recommendations on what to use to clean my valve cover and restore it's red?

sand blast it and have it painted thats what I did

i wouldnt go that far with it yet... keep it authentic, possibly clean it with soap and water to get the dirt over then add wd40 for to brighten the color back into it.

look around the oil fill cap the rest of the valve cover could look like that with an oil based solevent to freshen it up.

yeah little white crx is right that would be the "right" way to "restore" it.

yea what they said by cleaning it first and getting all that sand and grime off of it but then hit up the autozone and buy you some of the orange high temp engine degreaser/brightener.....it does a damn good job at cleaning and giving it the shine and clean look.
