| I never did a build up on here so I figured id transfer it over for those of you who didnt see it elsewhere. I started my build Dec of 06. I thought I was building a straight forward LSvetc but that didnt work out exactly as planned. I bought parts from all over the place and a bunch of different people. I didnt want to crack open my perfect LS motor from my car. That is where I went wrong. I should have just used the proven powerplant and all would have been fine. But since I used a bunch of unproven parts the motor failed. Blahh blahh blahh the story goes on and on. Needless to say I scrapped everything and started from scratch. This is my current build. Im using a p72 GSR head that I scrounged up and a B18a1 block. No real reason for using the a1 block other than availability. Im running "low compression" Flat top Arias Pistons and Eagle rods. Everything else internally is Honda OEM. THe cams in the head are true JDM GSR cams. I didnt have the extra funds to purchase some CTR or type R cams so these will do for now untill I can buy brand new cams. We mocked the block up the first time to see just how much we could remove off the block to raise my compression. Heres the block back from the machine shop a second time. heres the new crank set in place heres the crank and bearings in place head set in place the back of the motor and the head bloted down with the JDM GSR cams and adjustable gears heres a shot of the clay in place inside the quench area and valve reliefs this is what we have after engaging vtec and spinning the motor over all the clearances on this bugger are freakin tight so im adjusting and re claying alot to ensure proper clearance and maximim compression. Remember every time you clay you have to dissasemble the head and reassemble it to propper tourqe specs. Its a loooooong process but itll be worth it to have the extra compression. I finished clearancing the pistons and i ordered new rings they have to be custom made since the piston I have was discontinued shortly after I bought them. I will clay the motor one more time to get a final measurement so I can determine how much cam timng I can adjust. I will also install an MSD system. After all that its time to dyno the car again since we will be making some drastic changes to my origonal set up. Like the compesion bump and more agressive cams. I spent another couple hours up at Adams reclaying my valve clearances. I took a little more material out of the valve reliefs on every piston to ensure max clearance when everything expands from heat. Littlewhitecrx and I also maxed out my timing in both directions with v-TAK engaged. I have plenty of clearance in both directions so we sent the head off to be milled some more. It was in need of a resurfacing and itll help just a tiny bit with the compression bump. My new rings showed up so it time for final assembly, drop it in the car, install the MSD, and lots of Dyno time. All the claying is done and I got the rings gapped and on the pistons and put the pistons in the holes. I cleaned everything again and set the new head gasket in place with the dowel pins in their holes. Then I set the freshly milled head down gently and lubed up the head bolts. I tourqued it all down and set the cams and misc caps in place. Once it was all tourqued down I had to set the valve lash. If youve ever done this you know its a PITA. So now ive got to finish up the intake mani plumbing and a few other little things like bolting on the flywheel and clutch. Ive got to set up the MSD system and do some break in. Then its time to hit the Dyno and make some serious numbers. We made 163hp on motor last time and now were hopin to make at least 15 more. We will see you never know. Im sure itll come to life more from just the cams themselves the lift was a huge difference from my old ones. Once I finished it all up heres what Ive got. | |

| Really diggin the engine bay. Black couplers would be my minor suggestion. Maybe red if you wanted to me matchy with the MSD box or FPR. | |

| I try to keep it as clean as possible luckily I have no oil leaks. The bummer is during the last install one of my axles seperated at the posts so I had to take the boot strap off and slide the boot back to fix it. I was able to reuse the strap and tighten it back the way it came but it still flung grease all up inside my engie bay on the driver side. No Im gonna spend a few hours clewaning it all up and buy another axle. Ill keep the leaky one as an emergency back up if ya know what I mean. | |

| Yeah but as soon as I put slicks on the car ill need better axles then ill need better tranny gears. SO for now the drag radials are fine. Id rather be a little slower than break parts needlessly. | |
