AF1JZ's MKIII Supra build

NOTE: I copied everything over from Supramania to make it easier. So, this build was over about a 10 month periord.

Here's the skinny on me and the supra...I'm Andrew, in the Air Force, 25 years old, and my build is on a 1990 Supra Targa. Enough of the blah blah, here's the pics which you guys want.

Here's the first supra. 1989 Supra Targa Turbo ($600) BHG.

Second supra. 1990 Supra Targa Turbo ($200) from Odomd. Bad motor, but is the platform.

Two days later, everything is swapped to the 1990. The cars never moved spots.

Time passed and didn't take pics . Here's the 1jz getting ready to go in.


935Motorsports lightweight flywheel.


XTD Stage 3 clutch.

3'' exhaust I made with hi-flow cat and 3'' muffler.


2.5'' intercooler pipes I made.

KYB GR-2 Struts and Arospeed springs.

New tires. Falken 512 tires, 235/45 fronts 275/40 rears.

Had to pull the tranny back off and put on by myself to change out the flywheel bolts with ARP's. It was a complete bitch to do. Never again.

Out with the old, in with the new. It's a 1-piece steel from Jawsgear.

The 1jz installed. It isn't clean at the moment. But soon enough.

Tomorrow is going to suck. Look at all those wires I have to extend.


Here is the engine bay as it sits tonight. I still have to do a lot of cleaning. Just want it running first.

Here is a picture of the relocated battery. I actually have the carpet tucked down and looks better that way.

You're doing all that at a Hobby shop on a base? (That's just what it looks like.)

Here is a pic of the new Pioneer CD player with Ipod control that I bought the other day. Fortunately the car had an aftermarket tape deck and when I took it out, it had the aftermarket wiring harness. So, putting it in was a piece of cake.

The Prosport gauges, electric water temp, electric boost, and AF ratio.

Did some more cleaning of the engine bay. Painted the valve covers, cam gear cover, intake pipe, intercooler pipes, and bov adapter pipe.

Before adjusting the coilovers. Too low for me, was scraping everything.

After adjusting the coilovers and paint the wheels gunmetal.

Changing out the door and fender after some jackass pulled out and hit my car.

Brand spankin new targa seals all around.


barely used Driftmotion pulley's. Don't know if it will do much, but they sure are pertty. Got them for $35 shipped. So, couldn't pass up the deal.

Bomex whaletail spoiler.

Sold the MKIV TT wheels and got some Volk GT-N's. 18x8 with 235/40 fronts and 18x9 with 265/35 rears. Also, the spoiler is on and also the Bomex front bumper.

hot on the streets, makes me want one.

It was all done in base housing. No one even called the cops on me. I was mostly quiet and always cleaned up.
