| Turn the caps off first of all. Secondly, "Automatic" doesn't always equal "Slow"...yes, the shifting won't be as responsive and quick, but that doesn't mean it's a slow car. I know plenty of auto's that can run 6's and 7's in the 1/8. And even faster. But as far as if you can "win"...it's just a matter of trying. | |

| A car that you wouldn't expect to be fast because of how it looks or what kind of car it is is a sleeper. Not a lot of money is spent on exterior flashiness to hint that it is a fast car. For instance...no one expects much out of a civic on black steelies with bad paint. It is alot faster than you would think though. | |

| Actually Joey if I remember right the 84 vettes came with crossfire injection and didnt make much power. i think they runabout the same times as a 305 lates 80s camaro. i could be wrong though. | |

those years arent very fast... but i dont know too much about your car. i'd say just race him and find out. you may win if its not in good tune.

| u didnt specify 1/8th or 1/4 man, and i've seen a stock fbody 6spd go 8.5s, never seen a stock auto do that.
1/4, no way is the auto faster than the 6spd if the manual owner can drive at all.

| ive seen half a dozen auto ws6's run 8.50s in stock form one of them even in the 8.40s, put a converter in any one of them and 8.0s is easy | |

| laydout... u sure about this...
zr1 was the 'premium' vette of its time. dohc etc. etc. it was corvettes pinnacle car. the z51 was just a perf/handling upgrade, just like todays z51 is. everything i read online said there wasnt even a zr1 option in 84. the 84 had 205 hp stock from what the sites say (all of em). the z51 just had better gearing
pistons, cam, heads etc. is a lot of aftermarket stuff man. thats not 'lightly' modded.
